An acid chloride is a carboxylic acid derivative as well as an acid anhydride. Acetic anhydride is a very reagent in aspirin synthesis. Anhydrides are formed when two molecules of acid combine and a water molecule is eliminated. Acid halides are formed when H in the carboxylic acid group is replaced by a halide. They are mainly used in synthesis of different organic compounds.
Kidney Stones found in human body are made of some of the carboxylate acid salts such as calcium succinate etc.Amides: Carboxylic acids react with ammonia or amines to produce amides. Amides will be discussed in detail with amines in later chapter. |
