Amines and Amides Definition

Amines:
Amines are organic compounds derived from ammonia. One or more hydrogen atoms will be replaced by organic groups.
Amides:
Amides are organic compounds that have the functional group of amide group which is represented by a carbonyl
group connected to nitrogen atom. This group is called a peptide bond
Amines and Amides are very important organic compounds to human as well animal and insect’s life. They contribute
to formation of amino acids, proteins and nucleic acids of the DNA and RNA.
Most of amines and amides exhibit physiological characteristics. These characteristics are used in the medicine.
They are used in anesthesia and sedative drugs. Furthermore, compounds are called alkaloids such as cocaine, nicotine, caffeine etc are considered as nitrogen organic compounds of amines.
